For 45 years the Weed Ladies have been making and selling gorgeous floral arrangements to benefit the heritage society. The year was 1969, and a group of Naperville women had just started gathering sharing a common interest. “We loved gardening, these women and we got together, and I forget because it’s been such a long time ago, but we used to get together and talk about gardening and what we had done in our gardens,” said Midge Drebing, one of the original founders of the Weed Ladies. These decorative lightning rods on our house just might be antiques or at least as old as me...like I said, antique. lol Hubby's doing some chimney repair and roof coating and he's thinking about moving a couple of them to the roof of the hen house. Made by the Koehler Manufacturing Co., a Naperville-based furniture maker, this silent promotional film tells the story of the company and it's product's "Hidden Qualities". The film showcases a variety of mass-produced furnishings, all made through a version of the assembly line process that nevertheless produced a high-quality end product. Hardwood made up the frames, steel the springs, and strong fabrics were used for upholstery. The film provides an interesting insight into manufacturing processes in the pre-WWII era.
